Sunshine Haven, Inc. needs your help!
We are launching a grand scale community effort to raise $100,000 before November 6, our 20th anniversary, in order to continue serving our region.
This is an exceedingly difficult financial moment for Sunshine Haven, Inc. We were severely impacted by COVID-19. Our fundraising efforts were affected and so were our granting opportunities. This campaign is going to be critical in keeping our doors open.
For the past 20 years, Sunshine Haven, Inc. has served 1,408 individuals in the Rio Grande Valley. Sunshine Haven, Inc. is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) that provides comfort care for patients with a terminal diagnosis and facilitates the grieving process for patients and families. Sunshine Haven Inc.’s services are completely free to their patients and the families of their patients. Sunshine Haven, Inc. is only one of eleven special care facilities in Texas, and the only one in Cameron County.
We consider our work sacred. Our Certified Nursing Assistants are willing to spare a moment with our patients or take a moment and provide kind words to the families of our patients. That was the vision of our founder Lois del Castillo. She dreamed of a peaceful homelike environment that would provide compassionate end of life care without the added stress of affordability. Those last days between our patients and their families are already so difficult without having to worry whether the families can afford the services we provide
Things have been difficult with COVID-19, but we believe in our mission and we are getting creative. The community has supported us and loved us for 19 years now, and we know that difficult situations like these, also build resilience. With the help of the community we know that we can meet the need and become stronger than we were before.
Sunshine Haven, Inc. will be accepting donations through this Gofundme, and on our Facebook page. For more information contact Veronica Lucio at [email redacted] or by calling Sunshine Haven at (956) [phone redacted].
