Sunshine For Seniors - The Bloom Project delivers daffodil plants and homemade cards to seniors either living alone or in long term care. Often overlooked most people don't realize that isolation and loneliness is the reality for most seniors living in your community. Our purpose is to connect with seniors to make them feel special and know that they matter. The daffodil plants also provide a sense of purpose and recreation while enjoying bloom and grow. You never really know what anyone is going through on any given day and really what could be nicer then to receive flowers, especially as an unexpected kind gesture.

To date we have delivered close to 6000 daffodil plants and homemade cards to seniors. There has been so much surprise and kindness spread all thanks to the support of others and generous contributions. This year Sunshine for Seniors won a grant through the Sunlight Helping Canadians Shine Contest. The prize will be a great start to this years deliveries with the first 1000 daffodil plants purchased by Sunlight.

This initiative is also a great way to connect children with seniors in their community - by doing something nice for someone else!
