Sunset Farm Storm Repair
Donation protected
Hi, friends. I have made this page for my sister, Kaitlyn, and brother in law, Lawrence, of Sunset Farm CT.
On December 17, 2023 a storm with winds up to 65mph destroyed 3 tunnels on the farm. Two of these tunnels had winter crops growing in them. These crops will now be a loss without any coverage during the winter, negatively impacting the farm’s revenue for the next four months. Kaitlyn and Lawrence are now facing months of lost income, as well as expenses related to replacing three unheated caterpillar tunnels.
These three tunnels were all built within the last year. The tunnels help to expand the growing season and protect crops from variable weather but, sadly, are exposed to the same elements. Kaitlyn and Lawrence have insurance for their farm business, but plastic topped tunnels like this are not covered in their area. Your donations will help rebuild these tunnels and make up for losses from what was growing inside.
Kaitlyn and Lawrence have put their heart and soul into Sunset Farm, and are the hardest working people I know. They are first generation farmers and own the only certified organic flower and vegetable farm in Naugatuck, Connecticut. Everything they do is for their community and their children and every donation will go back to doing that.
Thank you for your help! I have linked their website below if you are interested in learning more about Sunset Farm and their business.
