“sunny side up” is an interactive architectural light art installation for Burning Man 2026 - it mirrors the horizon where sun meets sea, capturing the ephemeral beauty of sunrise and sunset. It invites participants to experience impermanence and hold hope, as every sunset promises another sunrise.
The Artist
Hello! I'm Phoebe Leung, the lead artist behind sunny side up.
This will be my first time bringing an art installation to the playa. Like many first-time artists, I'm taking a leap into the unknown and learning every step of the way. I hope this project is not only the realization of a dream, but also of a long and diverse creative journey of creating art, architecture, and shared experiences for others.
Your generous support will help fund:
• Materials and fabrication
• LED lighting and interactive systems
• Batteries and power systems
• Transportation to and from the playa
• Tools, construction supplies, and storage
• Leave No Trace cleanup and restoration
Every contribution, no matter the size, helps bring a horizon of light and a little warmth of heart to the desert <3
Thank you for helping make Sunny Side Up a reality. You help bring the sunset to Burning Man 2026!
