Help the Sundancers R/C Club Relocate to a New Home

Hello, my name is Kenneth Bridges, but everyone calls me “Doc.” I serve as the treasurer for the Sundancers Radio Control Club, a community of over 200 passionate members, ranging from children to seniors, in Port Saint Lucie, Florida.

For over 30 years, the Sundancers R/C Club has been a hub for radio-controlled aircraft enthusiasts, including planes, helicopters, drones, float planes, and gliders. We also cater to radio-controlled car enthusiasts. Our club is more than just a gathering place; it’s a community that brings together families and individuals of all ages who share a love for this exciting hobby.

Over the years, we've had to relocate multiple times, the most recent being in 2009 when we moved from Torino Park to our current site on Germany Canal Road. This 80-acre site was generously offered to us by Drew Bartlett, the Executive Director of the South Florida Water Management District.

Unfortunately, we've received notice that our current site will be flooded to prepare for a new reservoir, and we must relocate by July 2025. Despite initial assurances that the plans could accommodate our presence, it has become clear that we have no choice but to move.

Fortunately, Drew Bartlett, Executive Director, South Florida Water Management, has identified a new location for us nearby. The new site is on Sneed Road. This site is on higher ground and is ideal for our club’s activities. However, the relocation process involves significant costs, including the transportation and setup of our equipment.

We are reaching out to you, our community, for help. Any donation, no matter the size, will assist us in moving to our new home and continuing the activities that have brought joy and connection to so many. Your donation will be used to defray the cost of taking down, transporting and to reassemble everything at the new location.
