On 20th September, myself & a wonderful group of friends (Andrew Naylor, David Watters, Andy Bennett, Katherine O’Gara & John Osbourne), are taking on a physical and emotionally demanding challenge: climbing Mount Snowdon continuously for 24 hours — from Summit to Sunrise.
Twelve years ago, I lost my brother, Anthony Peers and Katherine lost her sister Mary O’Gara to suicide. It’s a loss that never leaves you — it changes how you view the world and deepens your understanding of just how vital mental health, empathy, and awareness really are.
This event is in memory of both Anthony and Mary, and in support of the Mary O’Gara Foundation, a charity devoted to suicide prevention. The foundation works to deliver essential mental health education and training in schools, colleges, and universities, helping people to recognise the signs of someone struggling — and know how to help.
This challenge is not just a personal tribute — it’s a call to action. It’s about saving lives, starting honest conversations, and making sure no one feels they have to suffer in silence.
