Summer and Eddie Teixeira

As many of you know, my sister Summer and her husband Eddie have lived on Maui for the last 17 years, sharing their love of surfing by offering surf lessons through their company, Surf Yoga Maui. After a couple of stressful days, we are beyond thankful that their home has been spared by the unrelenting fires, and that they are both safe. The fire spread rapidly through their neighborhood, unbelievably close to their property, and without any warning. Eddie worked alongside neighbors to protect their homes by spraying the roofs down with water hoses before evacuating. It is a true blessing that they had a home to come back to. As you can imagine, they are devastated by the damage the wildfires have caused to their beautiful home island. Many of you have asked me how to best support them- The goal of this GoFundMe is to help support their immediate needs, including the abrupt loss of income due to the sudden halt to tourism, and to allow them to assist their neighbors, friends, and community in rehabilitation efforts, as many very close to them have lost so much. Their neighborhood currently does not have access to clean water, and they are focused on the initial steps of cleaning their property of debris and ash, from both the interior and exterior of their home. Please keep them in your prayers as they navigate through the coming months to find a returned sense of normalcy.
