Sugary is Su and Gary

Family and Friends,

My name is Su Fong, Gary’s wife. As most of you know that Gary was diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer on February 12th, 2022. Since then, he finished 10 rounds of chemo treatments. During the chemo treatments, we felt God’s presence and experienced miracles as Gary rarely had side effects. He gained his lost weight back by June and was able to eat and move normally.

All of a sudden, the side effects from chemo drugs started showing up in early August. Starting from mucositis, neuropathy, coughing, swallowing problems, shortness of breath, and edema on his feet. After all the testing and scans were completed, we found out that his tumor grew bigger, and pushing the airway of his lung and esophagus resulted in his constant coughing and swallowing problems. We will start a new chemo plan with different drugs as of next Tuesday (Sep 6th).

Today (August 31st, 2022), the doctor told us that this type of cancer is difficult to be treated. Average people live 14 months from the diagnosis and some people will last 3-5 years. Gary basically was sentenced as “Terminally-Ill.”

As you know Gary, he is not average, he is one of a kind, he is strong, and he is a fighter. He will beat the odds. Most of all, we have God who never leaves us or forsakes us. We also have family and friends who constantly pray for us. Thank you for your support.

Gary is worrying about our finance to cover medical bills since he can’t work and I don’t have a job yet. I trust God that He will provide me with a perfect job so that I can glorify Him in His due time. But right now, my priority is to take care of Gary, and I want to relieve his financial burden from Gary with your support.

$202,783 is the fund that I would like to raise from family and friends. Study shows that 5 years passing after the cancer diagnosis is the turning point to being in remission. Regardless of the doctor’s statistics, Gary will survive and thrive not in 3 or 4 years but in more than 5 years. Adding 5 years in the year 2022, Gary will be 83 years old in 2027. This is the number that will give Gary hope and strength. Your support matters. That is HOPE.
