Sudden and tragic loss for family

Short but wonderful update: Finn was released to go home Monday evening with his big sisters!

My name is Kim and I have been best buddies with Dri (Sandra) Marquez for almost 20 years.

This past week, she tragically lost her long term partner, Danny Moore (10+ years) at home to complications from the Flu. She was then herself admitted to UC Hospital with complications from the flu.

Dri has been on a ventilator and receiving dialysis since then. Dri has 4 children. Dri was also a recipient of a life saving liver transplant less than two years ago! Dri and Danny's son Finn-her youngest is currently at Children's hospital with complications due to the flu. Her older children are doing all they can to support their brother and mother during this absolutely tragic time.

Danny was the breadwinner of this family. Dri was a stay-at-home mom. This means Finn has not only lost his father but, any income for the family. Little Finn has already suffered a profound loss and we don't know what the future holds for his mother. The hospital is confident Finn will recover! This is amazing news. But this also puts an extreme burden on the family. Dri's oldest daughter is a champion and doing her absolute best to be the support they all need. But she cannot do it alone.

My heart breaks for this family. They have been through so much the last couple of years with Dri's health and recovery. They were finally getting her back and healthy when this tragedy struck them.
