Subic Bay COVID 19 Food Relief Fund
The local people in Calapandayan Barangay, Subic Bay, Philippines
are struggling after almost a month of CONVID19 Quarantine.
Nobody is working and the level of poverty here was already
incredibly high. Starvation is real.
Flery and I were traveling through other parts of the Philippines when we were stuck in Quarantine in this part of Luzon as Convid19 loomed on March 15th, 2020. We attempted to escape the city centers as this was where the hot spots were and ended up in the Calapandayan Barangay in Subic Bay. We were immediately struck by the lives of the people as so many live way below the poverty line. Living in homemade shacks in many places with no fresh running water or utilities. The locals have not been supplied by the government for much of anything and people have been starving.
Flery and I began to feed who we could near us out of our own pockets for the first couple of weeks. As people found out about our plight via FB, we were advised to build a GoFund me page and the rest is history. Since that time, we have supplied food and relief supplies starting at 150 a week and now we are up to 225. We have been in lockdown now for 39 days.
As a team working with the Calapandayan and Aningway Baranagays, we are attempting to supply 225 families a week with food relief
supplies consisting of canned goods, bread, and five kilos of rice each.
The typical cost per bag is approximately 1000 Pesos or $20 each.
Every penny of your donation money goes to relief goods. We keep no
administration funds and the only fees collected are by GoFund me for their service.
The smiles alone are the thanks we receive. Help us help those truly in need in this global time of crisis.
