This funding campaign will allow 21 of us to go to Washington, D.C. for the March 24th "March For Our Lives" protest! While in D.C. we will march, meet with legislators, and network with other student activisits from across the country. When we return, we will be sharing our experience with as many Bellingham area students as possible and applying what we learned to further activism for safer schools.
All the money from this campaign will go to helping students attend the march in Washington. The cost of attending is about $1,000 per student. Families that can afford to are also paying for their students' travel, but we have many students who need financial support to make this trip. Any additional proceeds will fund our group's future activism. We have adult advisors (educators and lawyers) who will be helping us manage the money from this fund.
Our Mission Statement:
Never again! We want to work hard to make changes so that no student should feel afraid to walk into a school and learn. We will pressure the school district and government to make changes that increase the safety of students. These include changes in federal, state, and local laws, and taking measures in school to help schools deal with active shooters should they occur.
This link takes you a site that has the full 90 minute protest. Our speeches start at about the 40 minute mark.
We thank you for your support!
