Hi, my name is Courtney and I am a single mum of 3 kids. I am trying to raise funds as I have been unfairly charged and I need to ensure I have a good lawyer and for me and my kids to secure permanent housing as we are in the middle of this current rental crisis.

I Have been the sole carer and provider for my 3 children always. I decided to have Isaiah (third child) as a completely single mama. I had a cesarean and I felt we were settling in well. My son had wet nappies and was pooing more regularly than my daughters. Granted in this time I was upset their estranged dad wouldn't meet him and the constant put downs along with abuse from my mother.
We were receiving weight checks however the attending nurse felt confident we were both doing well and I had it under control and she was happy to cease weights if I was.
I feel this was the moment that I should have disagreed. And in hindsight I would have.
At 5 weeks old my son went into cardiac arrest in my arms and I gave him CPR for 40minutes while waiting for ambulance services. The hardest, scariest and most confusing 40mins of my life.
He was airlifted to cairns base and then from there to Townsville in a critical condition.
Within days I was informed he was admitted under medical neglect. I was completely shocked and disgusted. He was breast fed on demand 24/7 and never out of my arms.
Doctors never tested but put it down to my breast milk being inefficient and I was from then unable to breastfeed and only bottle feed my son.
We stayed in hospital for a month and all medical advice was followed. The hospital staff saw clearly this was not something that had happened intentionally or out of neglect but purely something I didn't realise could even be a possibility as I had successfully breastfed my two daughters for years and together.
A child safety investigation ensued and they found me a safe mum.
An IPA follower and again I was found a safe mum and child safety ceased working with us.
All while the father of my children promised a healthy relation while abusing and abandoning myself and children constantly and calling CPS with false claims behind my back.
This was and still is the most traumatic experience of my life. I nearly lost my son.
but I also saved his life that day. Giving him life saving CPR which thankfully he also has no brain damage from this.
A year later I was then charged by the police with grevious bodily harm and failure to provide life's necessities a year after my son's hospital admittance.
This court case is still ongoing. I was not able to obtain legal funding due to severity of charges. I was advised that I was more likely to be successful with a private lawyer and so I have obtained legal representation however this is quite expensive.

We also left domestic violence to enter into rental crisis. Moving is unaffordable for me but a yearly expense at this point in time and completely unsettling with everything going on for us currently.

In this economy we are struggling at times to purchase nourishing foods and I am not in a position to be able to save or get anywhere.

Their father who has been no contact for sometime has also filed a court case for full custody and he is using the police charges I currently have to try to say that he should have custody of the children. Which has added stress financially and physicially to our lives.

I also believe motherhood is our most important job and so I feel to work while my children are so young would really be neglecting my most important role.
I tried to make use of the single parent scheme to buy a home but I was declined.
We have no family support as my family of origin is not healthy for us and so I am calling out to community.

My main goal is to obtain enough funding to a) pay my lawyer and prove my innocence
b) to secure something stable and long term for me and my children. Either a tiny home, a bus, some land to build earth homes on and or something already existing. This all depends on the funding received.

Long term and if possible I hope to purchase land and build multiple dwellings where other single mamas could be supported. In this economy a registered rental will only approve me for $220 a week. Single mamas are being left behind as we can't just rent rooms. We secure houses for our children's safety but we are unable to afford housing alone. Renting privately and completely out of our means is the only way and currently that is completely unobtainable.

Every donation counts no matter how small. Together we can make a change.
The gratitude I have for every donation is so large.
Thank you so much.
