Struggling Family Needs a New Home
In 2019, David “Cupid” Valentine was a very cheerful and playful 35-year-old husband and father of four who enjoyed life and being a provider and protector of his family. Now, toss in a knee injury, surgery, physical therapy, and the COVID-19 pandemic, and now you have a father who is fighting to keep his nose above water.
After his injury, but before his surgery, he was unable to work due to the high physical demands of his job. At that time, he was attending physical therapy to strengthen his knee with the hopes of foregoing the surgery altogether. Unfortunately, his efforts fell short, and he was told that to get back to his normal physical state, he would have to have surgery. This is what he dreaded because he knew this would keep him out of work even longer.
His wife did what she could as the sole breadwinner of the family. She was now providing for her husband and four growing kids. They scraped by, living paycheck to paycheck and spiraling further into debt using the credit cards to pay for groceries and clothing for the children, including their 6’7” 16-year-old son.
In 2020, just prior to the pandemic, he had the surgery. Due to the constraints with the healing and recovery process and now COVID-19, he is out of work for another year. Just when the family did not think they could take on anymore, they received a phone call from their grandfather, who desperately needed a place to call home. When the man who walked your wife down the aisle and trusted you to care for her until death do you part needs your help, you help.
Fast forward to today. You have seven people packed in a three-bedroom apartment in Virginia Beach. Rent is $1,700 a month. Inflation is beating the hell out of this family. He is back to work, but his hours have been greatly minimized. Just to get to work, he must cross the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, which, as some of you may know, has a toll on both ends, meaning you have to pay to enter and pay to leave. Just for him to get to work every day costs $30. Without having money to use his ezPass, he now owes approximately $1,500 in tolls. Also, because of this, his tags are now expired, and he cannot get his vehicle registration renewed.
This is a father who wants nothing more than to get his finances in order and put his family in a home, but he needs help. Right now, I am asking for assistance in raising money for this father to be able to relocate into a larger home to support his family. Your contributions will give him more freedom to pay down his current debts.
Anything you can contribute will be used as a downpayment on a new home for this large, loving family. Please share if you cannot give, and help us spread the word.
Thank you for your time and God bless all of you.
