Strength for Joey: A Family’s Hope and Fight
Donation protected
♡♡♡ Thank you for being here. ♡♡♡
We are deeply grateful for your time and intention of leaning in with us.
My name is Sophia, and I’m one of three daughters to our vibrant, loving dad, Joseph (Joey) Cannavo.
Alongside my sisters Cecelia, Tessa and our entire family, we thank you for taking a moment to hear Dad's story.
In June, Dad received the diagnosis of Leukemia. He began treatment immediately while his team of doctors started the search for a bone marrow transplant donor.
Throughout every hiccup, trial and tribulation, Dad remained positive and stayed in a warrior-like attitude, willing to do whatever it takes to "beat this." Even during a 31 day stay in the hospital, Dad still kept his faith and spirits high. We coined the term, "Don't count the days, make the days count."
The journey has been wrought with many ups and downs, but one of the biggest up's being that the Doctors identified a stem cell donor match in Europe that was willing to donate his stem cells in order to give Dad the transplant. One of the biggest down's is that despite chemotherapy and treatment efforts, Dad's blast cells have been too high for him to receive the transplant.
This leads us to today, where we are still "in the fight": continuing with treatment to try and reduce the blast cells and keep Dad in as best of health as possible, while researching and working towards finding clinical trials that could make a difference.
Why we are asking for donations: to help us best set Dad up with all that he needs for comfort, healing and peace of mind.
This includes 1) aiding in covering living expenses while he continues this battle. 2) Helps to provide home healthcare to support him while he is compromised. If we make it to the bone marrow transplant stage, home healthcare support will become vital to his recovery journey. 3) Helps to cover other wellness expenses not covered through insurance.
We want to say from the very depths of our hearts that your support means the world to us. We cannot thank you enough for your compassion, prayers, thoughts and love.
Please also know your prayers are more valuable than any dollar amount and we can feel them.
Please feel free to share this page or send a message, card, or video to Dad—he loves hearing from you.
With all our very full hearts,
Sophia, Cecelia, & Tessa
