The Straw House leads by example — showcasing the future of sustainability!

Built from nearly 100% recycled materials with volunteer labor, The Straw House is about 85% complete. It is ready to become the Eco-Art and Wellness Center for the community.

However, we need urgent help to buy out the land. If not, the three-thousand square foot structure will be lost.

Instead, we want the center to continue to be a non-profit community space.

Designed by a Laguna Beach native, the one-of-a-kind fairytale structure is made out of reclaimed materials, locally sourced clay, and the love and laughter of building participants from all over the world.

As a functional community ecology center, over the past several years The Straw Bale has held and hosted countless workshops and events that brought the community together. This includes but are not limited to:

Sustainability

Fire-resistant succulents & native landscaping, composting, beekeeping, pollinator gardens, permaculture, edible gardens, sustainable building, & zero-waste circular design

Art

Painting, drawing, graphics, ceramics, sculpture, writing, music, dance, glass blowing, wood work

Healing movement, herbalism, mindfulness & meditation, non-toxic and sustainable living, animal therapy, neurodiverse space and mindful tech use

Survival skill training, native history and healing methods

We need to raise $1,500,000 in order to purchase the remaining 75% interest on the property.

If all 90,000 people who signed the petition to Save the Sanctuary donated $17 - the Straw House would be funded.
