Hello my name is Amanda Gazidis and in October 2024 I started a campaign in Glastonbury Town to stop World Heritage Status being explored by our Council.

The majority of residents have deep concerns based on reliable research and can see the results would be disastrous for our small spiritual and quirky town.

£10,533 has been spent already on consultants and the Council have £30,000 in the pot altogether to explore this matter.

I began a petition which has almost 1,500 signatures, called many meetings, run a stall and a Facebook group entitled World Heritage Status for Glastonbury?

I also do outreach work weekly. Furthermore recently a friend and I are creating a website and making a documentary film on a voluntary basis.

Despite the residents making it clear that we do not want it (80 percent) the Town Council continue to press on and formed a working group to explore it in January 2025.

I have printed flyers and posters, to date spent £380 from my own pocket plus hours of commitment and dedication to spread awareness. The consequences of this was implemented would be disastrous and we need to stop this exploration from happening further before more money, time and energy is spent.

I and others have asked for a public consultation or referendum or reliable survey from the Council in meetings and by email to no avail. Furthermore my local MP has not responded to mine and others concerned emails to date either.

Please help me to further the campaign so that I can continue with the work and make a flyer to distribute to many local addresses and to finish the film.

Let us stop World Heritage Status exploration together before more money is spent on something we the residents clearly do not want. Many thanks.
