Stop a 19 acre industrial complex being built on prime agricultural land in South Cambs Green Belt.
The Thriplow and Heathfield Working Group are working to assess the Meridian Biogas application to build a site in Thriplow just off the A505.
We are engaging a solicitor, a transport consultant and a landscape architect to assess the application in the interest of the local area, costing in the region of £14,000+vat. Please help us save our Green Belt for food and wildlife by donating to this cause.
The proposed site is in the Green Belt on prime Grade 2 agricultural land. However, guidance says that brownfield sites should be used. Meridian are claiming ‘very special circumstances’ to justify this application.
There are so many reasons that this is not the right site to locate the plant. The full application along with many valid Comments/objections can be found here:

LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT COSTS INCLUDE:
1. Review of Background Information: We would carry out a detailed review of the planning application documentation, comments provided by consultees/third parties and other published background information such as published landscape character and green infrastructure studies. Our review would include the Applicant’s LVIA methodology and assessment findings, the site selection report and the Green Belt Appraisal set out in the submitted Planning/Design and Access Statement.
2. Site visit: We would visit the area surrounding the site to appraise existing landscape and visual conditions, including the assessment and photomontage viewpoints in the LVIA report. Our field survey work would tease out local landscape and visual sensitivities.
3. Landscape Statement: We would prepare a robust Landscape Statement that sets out the landscape and visual case against the proposed development. This statement would include a critical review of the LVIA and would provide an appraisal of landscape and visual harm, including harm to the visual openness of the Green Belt. Conflict with landscape planning and conservation policies would also be identified.
4. Rebuttal: We would, if required, review any responses from the Applicant to consultee comments and prepare a rebuttal to those responses.
