Stop the ZONE Change at Island Hills Golf Course
On March 8, 2017, Rechler Equity Partners submitted an application to the Town of Islip for a zone change from a AAA zoning to a PDD (Planned Development District). This application included 1,365 apartments, sewage treatment plant and accessory retail space.
In May 2017, our community began the opposition journey. We have created a website, launched our Facebook platform, orchestrated rallies, petitions, surveys, attended Town of Islip meetings, letter writing campaigns, and fundraising.
On June 15, 2021, the Town of Islip accepted and deemed appropriate the Draft Environmental Impact Study adequate for public comment.
We have obtained a Traffic Engineer, Environmental Consultant, and Legal Counsel (pro bono). Unfortunately, what we have previously raised will not cover the entire costs. We need to cover the expenses as mentioned in addition to mailings and unexpected costs (legal filings, printing) etc.
Please help save Sayville from overdevelopment and our surrounding communities that will be greatly impacted by this enormous zone change application. This development will impact traffic, environment, response times from our first responders, and school district.
