Stop The Paddocks - Say No to 250 Homes in Stoke D'Abernon
Donation protected
We are linked to Stoke d'Abernon Residents' Association (www.sdra.org.uk) and we are opposing the proposed 250 + Housing Development on Blundel Lane, (The Paddocks).
This will have a devastating impact on our community and increase the dwellings in our village by around 40%. It will change it from a semi-rural to an urban environment.
The land is currently Green Belt and we need to fight to protect this.
We believe the site is not in a sustainable location, and residents will have a high reliance on car transport for work, shopping, leisure and access to health.
Safety is a major issue due to dangerous access roads and with lack of pedestrian and cycle lanes at both the Railway Bridge and Blundel Lane/Stoke Rd junction.
It will have a major impact on local residents with increased traffic and congestion, particularly on the Stoke Rd junction where traffic can frequently back up to Evelyn Way and beyond .
Flooding and Sewage capacity are serious issues as is the environmental impact of air pollution and noise pollution.
The ecological impact will be significant as a result of the destruction of trees, hedgerows and fields and the impact on wildlife, birds and insects will be hugely negative.
We also need to be mindful of the increased pressure on school places and access to Doctors surgeries.
We are raising funds to pay for our campaign; costs of publicity material and professional support in terms of Planning and Traffic Consultancy and possibly Legal Support. The Developers have employed 4 different Planning Consultancies just to develop their application so we know we are up against a significant challenge.
Please help us to support the local community and oppose inappropriate development, all donations are gratefully received. All funds will go into the Stoke D'Abernon Residents' Association business bank account which is managed by the SDRA Treasurer, no money goes into any personal account.
