Woodward Park United Against Gas Station is a grassroots campaign to stop the commercialization of our family-oriented residential community.
The City of Manteca and corporate developers are trying to fast-track a 24-hour AM/PM & fast food restaurant at the corner of Woodward Ave. & Pillsbury Rd. without a full environmental review.
Why are we concerned?
- Incompatibility with the Woodward neighborhood
- 24 hours, 7 days a week operation
- Increased air pollution & groundwater contamination
- Gas fumes and spillage
- Traffic congestion & dangerous intersections
- Noise & bright lights
- Health risks, especially for children & seniors
- Increased loitering and crime
- Gas tanker trucks through our residential streets
We have already reached out to several land-use attorneys to help represent us to the City of Manteca and the developer. We are also exploring a direct mail campaign to get the word out about our cause. All of this takes money. We are a collection of working-class families that just want what's right for our community. We'd greatly appreciate your help with our fight!
