Stop High Rises Zoning Next To Your Home

Dear Westchester Neighbors,

A Community Plan was developed which will be finalized in September unless you provide your input. Specifically, it is a plan for high-density units in OUR EXISTING R1 lots (one residence per lot) and R2 lots.

The City wants to create “density districts” in Westchester by upzoning thousands of lots for significantly increased density. This will nearly DOUBLE the number of housing units in Westchester. In some districts, up to 14 units will be permitted on one residential lot! That could be over 28 people and NO new parking, NO new parks, NO new schools, NO new businesses, NO new restaurants.

HERE’S WHAT YOU CAN DO:

1. Read the draft plan: Westside Planning Document

2. Write your opposition to this plan ASAP to: [e-mail geredigeerd], Sean Silva, Council Member Park, Jeff Khau, Westside City Planning, Benjamin Sullivan or use the draft email or email us for a copy you can use at [e-mail geredigeerd]. The number of emails sent determines the influence on draft changes, WE MUST CHANGE THIS DRAFT PLAN!

3. Attend the Neighborhood Council Community Plan Update Ad Hoc Committee Meeting: You can share your concerns before the plan is finalized in September. The Meeting is Monday, July 24 at 6:30pm, Westchester Municipal Building next to the Westchester Library.

4. Get the message out: Send this flier to all of your neighbors and friends. Copy it and put it on your neighbors’ doorsteps. Email everyone you know to get their support. Email us to help distribute fliers, put up yard signs and identify neighbors whose residents back up to Sepulveda, Manchester, Airport or La Tijera so we can hang a banner on their fence. Join our door-to-door campaign at [e-mail geredigeerd] We printed off 5000 fliers and will provide them to everyone who needs them while supplies last.

5. Help us defray costs for fliers, banners and yard signs with a donation. Anything above what was spent will be returned.
