War in Eastern Congo – Help Us Protect Climate Activists

A violent war is escalating in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. Many of our courageous partners – climate justice activists from Goma and the surrounding areas – are now in serious danger. These are people who have dedicated themselves to protecting the rainforest, fighting for a just transition, and resisting fossil fuel projects in one of the most biodiverse regions on Earth.

Now, they need protection.

That’s why we’re launching an emergency fundraising campaign.

Currently, most of our donations will go directly to helping these activists flee the war zone, providing them with transportation, shelter, food, and safety in more secure regions.

Every euro can make a difference – and potentially save a life.

Who we are: Congo Basin Alliance

We are a new international alliance of climate justice activists from the Congo Basin and Europe. We work together to fight for global climate justice. Beside the protection of rainforests, we demand a just transition that will come from the Global South.

One recent success: grassroots activists in DRC helped stop a large oil auction involving 27 exploration blocks in rainforest and peatland regions. But the threat isn’t over – the government has already announced plans for new fossil fuel projects. That’s why continued resistance is essential.

Right now, humanity and solidarity come first.

These activists risked everything to protect our shared planet. Now we must protect them.
