STOP DEPORTATION! HELP CARLOS ARTEAGA STAY IN CANADA
Donation protected
Our friend Carlos is facing unjust deportation threats with the additional burden on dealing with expensive medical bills due to recent health issues.
While dealing with the stress of the immigration process, Carlos found out that he has advanced diabetes which has also affected his vision and his heart. He needs medical help in Canada. Deporting him to Columbia means denying him this life saving assistance.
Please help Carlos stay in Canada and get the medical help he needs!
Carlos is an exceptional man, kind, hard working, honest man who contributes to both our Latin community and Canadian society. He has been working as a superintendent in Toronto, and is is always eager to help the residents and people in his community. He is a hard-working professional that just wants to live a better life and build a future for himself.
Carlos moved to Canada in 2016 from Venezuela, fleeing from the political situation there that made it impossible for him to stay. He came to Canada for refuge and has built a life here, but now he is being forced to leave a country that he has given so much to.
Carlos has been a productive member of the Toronto community since his arrival. For the last 9 years he has been working with immigration to get his permanent resident papers in Canada but unfortunately has faced constant delays and deferrals from the Canadian government. Despite almost having his papers approved, the government is threatening to deport Carlos to Columbia, a country he has never lived in, to await their final approval.
Further, the government of Canada is deporting him to Colombia, where he will not be safe or economically self-sufficient. In addition, Carlos is currently facing some serious health issues and does not have the money to pay for both his medical bills as well as the immigration lawyers.
He is a productive tax paying member of our society who has fallen on hard times mainly due to exorbitantly long immigration process and the deportation threat. The immigration process takes too long and is very expensive, resulting in massive legal bills; and in addition with the threat of deportation he can't work and is having a hard time paying for his medical bills and basic necessities.
His friends and neighbours have written appeal letters to the MPs and the Minister of Immigration, but we need to do much more to help Carlos and show him what Canada is really all about (despite our government's policies). It would be dangerous and irresponsible for the government to send him to Columbia, especially considering his contributions to Canadian society.
“I just want to live here, I would like to continue work and supporting my community, I’ve been living here for more than 9 years. Don’t let me go!”
We continue to fight to help Carlos stay in Canada, and are seeing your help. The money raised will help pay for Carlos' growing legal bills as well as his medical bills.
Please help support Carlos by contributing to this fund.
