STOP 7 story high-rise in Single-Family zones

The Sherman Oaks / Ethel community is deeply troubled by the proposed construction of a massive 7-story, 200-unit high-rise in our peaceful R1 single-family neighborhood.
Sherman Oaks has always been a place where families come to settle down and enjoy the tranquility of suburban living. It is disheartening to witness the rapid urbanization and densification that threatens to disrupt our way of life.

We are ready to fight this project and need your support. Funds will only be used for efforts supporting our cause:
  • Legal & attorney fees (estimate - 95% of funds)
  • Community engagement (banners etc.) and
  • Administrative/banking fees (gofundme)

Why we are so concerned about this project:

Increased density will overwhelm the local infrastructure and lead to:
Traffic Congestion:
The addition of such a large high-rise will undoubtedly exacerbate traffic congestion in our already busy streets. With an estimated influx of hundreds more vehicles into our area daily, it is crucial that we consider the impact on commute times and road safety. Increased traffic not only leads to longer travel times but also poses risks for pedestrians and cyclists.

Parking Shortages:
One major concern with this proposed development is the strain it will put on parking availability within our community. The current plans do not adequately account for accommodating an additional 200 units' worth of vehicles. This lack of foresight will inevitably result in parking shortages for both residents and visitors alike.

Safety concerns:
The narrow streets and sidewalks, the crossing of the bus line, people walking on streets etc. - all of those factors create a huge safety hazard for children, pedestrians and even drivers.

Community Overwhelm:
Our R1 single-family neighborhood was designed with low-density housing in mind. Introducing such a massive high-rise would fundamentally alter the character and charm that attracted us here initially. Our community's infrastructure may struggle to cope with an influx of new residents without adequate planning for schools, healthcare facilities, parks, and other essential services.

There is a risk that this will come to other neighborhoods as well. Please support us – this project will set a precedent.
