I hope you all are doing well.
I am writing to ask you all a huge favor. We have been asked to spread the word that the local food pantries in the Hamptons are in need of monetary donations. This is only the beginning of this social distancing, and the food pantries are emptying out. East Hampton Food Pantry, Montauk Food Pantry, Springs Food Pantry, Hearts of the Hamptons, Sag Harbor Food Pantry and others are asking for funds. Montauk is short food for 70 families this week alone. There are very little donations coming in since everyone is worried about stocking their own kitchens. Normally, the number of clients start decreasing in April because people are starting to get more hours at work and getting ready for summer. This year the number of clients are increasing for obvious reasons.
Having grown up in Water Mill, I did a lot of volunteering at several of these food pantries, and I know the tremendous impact they have on the families that rely on the services. At a time like this, the need is even more dire.
It goes without saying you all cherish this place as much as we do, please do as much as you can to help our neighbors especially at this most difficult time.
Love to all,
