St. Lucia, We Care!

On the evening of March 31st, the St. Lucian government put the entire island of St. Lucia in the Caribbean on lockdown for a 7 day period due to the risks of community spread of the novel coronavirus. For the vulnerable small island of St. Lucia this has sent shockwaves of concern from local community to community around the island. Shutting down an island like this to all tourism and the movement of local people is understandable given the extreme risk of having the virus spread and potentially endanger many lives. But the hardships that come with this lockdown and others that are likely to follow will not only be felt in St. Lucia but in many places such as the U.S., U.K. and Canada, who send so many visitors to the island. We don’t believe there has ever been a time where our beautiful island has been under such attack.

To help local communities weather the challenges that are to come, we’ve quickly set up our operation: St. Lucia, We Care! Our overall mission is to provide resources and much needed aid to as many as we can reach in local communities with the resources that we acquire. With our shipping partner located in Doral, Florida, St. Lucia Express, we’ll be shipping down as many shelf stable food items, medical supplies, infant and baby supplies, and other household items that are desperately needed. We will be sending everything as quickly as possible to benefit the hardest hit communities on the island. We’ll first target areas such as Soufriere and Choiseul where we have distribution operations in place. Our team on the ground in St. Lucia has government approval so that we can efficiently and safely distribute items to local families in need.

Your donation will greatly help St. Lucia, We Care! in our efforts to purchase, ship, and distribute food and supplies to those who are most affected. Time is of the essence so anything you can contribute would allow us to start our operations of acquiring goods and shipping them as quickly as possible. Your support will greatly help us give back something for so many of us who have been able to enjoy the island over the years. With tourism shut down, many people who worked on the island in hotels, resorts, villas, guesthouses, restaurants, tourists sights, and other activities, have very little safety net, and the small part we can all play will go a long way.

We realize that in a time like this this many are hurting and struggling with restrictions and financial losses due to the coronavirus and thus anything you can donate would be much appreciated.
