Stitched in Solidarity: Support Wave & Naomi
Donation protected
**NOTE: IF YOUR PREVIOUS DONATION WAS REFUNDED THIS WAS AN ADMIN ERROR. WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO RE-DONATE IF POSSIBLE**
This summer, we’re teaming up with Naomi - a community tailoring workshop in Thessaloniki run by displaced and marginalised people - to make and distribute hundreds of lightweight shorts and jogging bottoms for the communities we work in solidarity with.
For the past few years, Naomi has supported Wave by donating high-quality clothing to our free shop without asking for anything in return. Thanks to them, we have been able to distribute thousands of shorts and joggers to people in Thessaloniki and across immigration detention centres in Northern Greece. Check out the 2020 project in action !
Why is this project needed?
As temperatures rise and fall, weather-appropriate clothing becomes essential. But for people on the move and those living in camps, squats, or on the street access to appropriate, clean clothing is incredibly limited. Shorts and joggers are some of the most requested items at our free shop, and some of the hardest and most expensive to source.
At Wave, we’re not just distributing clothing—we’re also co-designing it, with input from the people who will wear it. This simple act of inclusion gives people back a sense of dignity, choice, and agency in a system that so often strips that away.
What makes this project special?
Clothing made by people with lived experience of displacement and exclusion, for people still navigating it: All items are produced at Naomi, where tailors from migrant and marginalised backgrounds are paid fair wages and work in safe, supportive conditions.
Environmentally conscious: Whenever possible, Naomi uses upcycled and surplus fabrics, reducing textile waste and keeping the project low-impact.
A circular project rooted in solidarity: Those who’ve experienced displacement, crisis, or marginalisation are now using their skills to support others facing similar struggles. This is care in action - not charity, but community.
What does your donation support?
- Fair wages for Naomi’s tailoring team
- Fabric, elastic, thread and labels
- Community-led design and fittings at Wave
- Distribution through Wave’s free shop
Each item costs around €10 to produce. Whether you can give €5 or €50, your donation goes directly into the hands of those making and receiving these clothes. And if you can’t donate right now, sharing the campaign helps too.
Thank you for being part of this network of care, dignity, and solidarity.
