Stillwater FPC Red Pantry

Hi! Our names are Josie, Karsen, and Mabrie. We are high school students who were given $150 each by our church in the "Pay it Forward" project. Our only rule was to take this money and use it to make a difference where we saw a need, and where our passions aligned. Coming together, we decided to join our money and efforts in the idea that with more money and brainpower we would be able to make a bigger impact. We have seen the need of period products for menstruating people in our community. 2 in 5 people who menstruate were unable to buy period products last year due to income. There are an estimated 16.9 million people who menstruate living in poverty in the United States. In our effort to create this red pantry at our church, which is intentionally stocked with variety of period products, is to alleviate at least some of the period poverty in our community. Menstrual products are essential, and will never not be needed. Everyone should have access to menstrual products, and to not feel stigmatized on these essential items. As our combined $450 is a wonderful start, most people know that period products are unfortunately pricey. Our goal is to double this amount in order to continually stock this pantry, as it is a continual need in our community.
