I’ve had a bit of help from Michelle as I was a bit nervous putting this out, but I wanted to share it anyway.
I’ve just watched the new @JohnLewis Christmas advert and it really hit me hard. It shows a son and his dad reconnecting through music and memories — and it brought back a lot for me.
I grew up with my mum, who gave us everything she could, and I spent a lot of time with my dad too. Over the years, I watched addiction slowly change him, and as a kid I didn’t really understand what was happening — I just knew I loved my dad and wanted more time with him. As an adult, that feeling never really goes away. You start to think about all the moments you wish you’d had, all the things you wish you could’ve said.
Watching that advert made me think about the kids out there right now going through what I went through — children who are growing up around addiction or trying to make sense of it while still loving their parents. No child should have to feel forgotten or alone at Christmas.
So I want to do something small but meaningful to help someone locally. I’ve set up a GoFundMe to raise money for children and families in our area affected by addiction — whether it’s helping a family with presents, food, or just making sure a child has something special this Christmas. Every bit will go directly to making someone’s life a little brighter.
To get things started, I’m personally donating £100 to kick it off. I just want to try and help make a difference, even in a small way.
please donate, share, or just spread the word. Thank you ❤️
