Steven Bishop's Cancer Journey
Donation protected
My Brother, Steven Bishop is currently at MD Anderson Cancer Center with a painful cancer that is affecting his bones. He was diagnosed about a month ago, but the doctors have not been able to determine exactly what type he has. He has been unable to work since his diagnosis and will remain unable to work for the foreseeable future. He has a wife and two children to support, with the normal expenses of life, but now with this catastrophic news, he has thousand of dollars of medical bills to pile on top. Added to that, he is living in El Paso, but receiving care in Houston. His insurance does not cover travel expenses or lodging.
Although he has a great job with Charles Schwab that provides short-term disability, his full benefits will be reduced to 40% of his normal pay in another month. He has already accrued over $6,000 in copays /coinsurance and he still hasn't even received a proper diagnosis to be able to begin treatment.
He has had multiple biopsies and the results range from Multiple myeloma, to Burketts Leukemia, He is currently awaiting an additional biopsy to be performed at MD Anderson Cancer Center to hopefully be able to receive a final (correct) diagnosis. Only then will he be able to receive a treatment plan.
Any help with these expenses would be greatly appreciated. This would take a huge burden off of him and his wife so that he can focus on his road to recovery.
