Dearest friends and family,
Most of you are aware of the long and difficult journey Matt and I have been on to grow our family. 8+ years of issues with infertility, unsuccessful fertility treatments, two last minute failed adoptions, etc. Well our luck has finally turned around, and our family will be growing by not one, but two sweet kids!
A few weeks ago we were made aware of a scenario involving two sisters, ages 2 and 4, and we immediately said yes to the situation. The girls' current caregiver reviewed all of the profiles for each family that said yes, and chose to meet with us. We met the caregiver 2.5 weeks ago, met the girls the same day, and we immediately all fell in love. Things progressed quickly - we scheduled some FaceTime calls, sent pictures and videos back and forth, met up with the girls and their caregiver for a fun-filled day near where they live, and then had them come stay with us for a long weekend over Easter. The best news of all is that they will be coming next weekend (the last weekend of April) and staying for good <3 We are already heads over heels in love, and couldn't be more thrilled.
Since sharing the news, we have been overwhelmed with offers of clothes, toys, furniture, books, etc. from our friends and family. Considering the fact that we always planned to adopt an infant, our house was already fully stocked with everything you would need for a newborn. We had to start from scratch when it came to preparing the house for two toddlers, and we had to pull all of that together super quickly. We are so thankful for everyone who helped (and is still helping) to make that possible.
We continue to get messages each day from people asking what we need, which is what prompted us to revisit our GoFundMe page. So many people have already generously donated towards making our adoption journey happen, and we couldn't be more grateful. Because we're now adopting two kids instead of just ones, the cost rose fairly dramatically. When all is said and done, we will have paid about $50,000 out of pocket to bring these girls home. That includes all of the fees from our adoption agency and all of the legal fees. We've already paid about half of that, and the remainder will be due when we bring them home next weekend. So we figured we would re-share this page, and if anyone wants to give towards it, the money will go towards adoption fees, legal fees, or items we still need to buy for the girls.
(Side note: GoFundMe takes a percentage of anything that is donated through the site. If you'd rather send the funds directly to Matt and me, you can use our Venmo accounts [@smklein27 or @mpklein27] or send a check. Feel free to reach out if you need our address.)
Thanks for being along for the ride, and for loving Matt and I so well through all of this. We are seriously surrounded by the best circle of friends, family, and coworkers we could possibly ask for, and we couldn't be more grateful. We can't wait to introduce these sweet girls to all of you in the weeks and months to come!
With so much love and gratitude,
Steph & Matt Klein
