About National Stiltwalkers of Canada:
The National Stiltwalkers of Canada is a non-profit group that has been delighting Edmontonians and Albertans with "high-spirited" stiltwalking performances and educational opportunities since 2001. If you've ever been awestruck by stiltwalkers towering above you at festivals, parades, or special events in Alberta, chances are, it was us! We’re incredibly proud to have been a part of Alberta’s vibrant arts and festival culture for all these years and we’re excited to keep the tradition alive for the next 25 years and beyond.
The Challenge We're Facing:
The slow recovery from the pandemic, rising rent and utility costs, and shrinking government support at the municipal, provincial, and federal levels have left us with a shortfall which is making it difficult to hang onto our studio space—our headquarters where everything comes together. This space is essential for us to create and care for our nearly 100 unique costumes and props, hold rehearsals and training sessions, and continue to serve as a hub for other local community arts groups.
How You Can Help:
We’re reaching out for your support in raising $16,000 to help cover some of our rent, utility, and insurance costs for the next five months. This will allow us to keep our doors open until we receive our next round of operational funding in late August. Every contribution helps us stay afloat and continue bringing the magic of stiltwalking to our community.
Specifically, the funds help cover the monthly costs of keeping the the doors open. IT works out to about $3200/ month for the next five months.
