Stella Tucker Baidaj Camp

Donation protected

6/10/2020 Update: Thanks to the incredible contributions from friends, family, and supporters, Tanisha Tucker has been able to continue our mom's work. Last summer 2019 was the first camp without my mom, but her spirit and presence were strongly felt.  This summer will be challenging given the COVID-19 situation, but the camp is still happening. My sister is fulfilling her commitment to teaching O'odham youth just as our mom taught her. If you are interested in supporting her work, you can contribute here.

Original Post: My mother, Stella Tucker, was a Tohono O'odham elder and guardian of the saguaro harvesting tradition. She passed away on January 9, 2019.  We are asking for support to continue her work and honor her legacy of teaching and preserving the declining tradition of saguaro harvesting.  My sister Tanisha Tucker will be continuing the annual saguaro harvest and working with O'odham youth to pass on the tradition to more generations. Over the years, my mom covered the cost of the camp herself so these donations will be greatly appreciated. Before she passed, we discussed ideas to expand funding so she and my sister could offer more educational workshops.  You can read about my mom's legacy and the saguaro harvesting tradition here: http://ediblebajaarizona.com/camp-baidaj
