Steinsdoerfer Adoption

We are jumping for joy because.......another Steinsdoerfer is on the way!

Since the day we met, adoption and caring for orphans has been in our hearts and a part of our lives. Through our life's call to the mission field we have had opportunities to serve orphans and vulnerable children throughout the world. Over the years, we have looked into the eyes of countless boys and girls in need of a home. We've held them in our arms, know their names and their story, prayed over their souls, danced and sang together, and we now have their faces in frames on our walls, never to be forgotten. These moments have transformed our lives. Knowing God's heart for children, and through our personal journey of faith, we are sure that our response to loving the motherless and fatherless in the world is to become their forever family.

Our journey towards parenthood began in 2016 when we were pregnant with our first child. There wasn't a day that went by that we weren't thinking and preparing for the next 9 months. However, several weeks into our pregnancy we had a miscarriage and lost our child. The year following was a time of restoration. Through many tears, our hearts healed, and we remained full of faith and hope to grow our family. During that year of restoration, I (Lori) had a significant, life-changing experience on a missions trip in Mozambique, Africa. Once a day I went to the "baby house". This was a place that housed and cared for orphaned children that were abandoned or their parents were deceased. There are not words to fully capture how these intimate, precious moments loving these children marked my heart, but it did. And, with the heart of a Mother within, there was no doubt that it was time to seriously pursue adoption.

After returning, we spent day after day talking about adopting a child. God brought us back to what He had originally put in our hearts when we met. At that point, we prayed every week for our future child and sought direction on where they were, what age they could be, and if this was a boy or a girl. After several weeks, we came in agreement about all the details. With great joy, a beautiful plan for our future family was revealed to us: we were to adopt a little girl from India!

Why India? For starters, India has the highest orphan population in the world. There are approximately 31 million orphaned and vulnerable children living in India. Also, the rate of orphaned girls in India is significantly high. As we researched these overwhelming statistics, we felt compelled with an opportunity to bring one of these little girls into a safe and loving home. Our hearts began aching with a startling thought: our daughter was one of these millions of little girls, and she is waiting to come home.

In April 2018, we took a faith filled step towards bringing our daughter home by filling out application with an adoption agency. In May, we were approved by the adoption agency to move forward in the process.  The initial financial commitment required an Adoption Agency Policy & Administration Fee $8,500 and completion of much paperwork. During this time we identified a specific preference of adopting a girl between the ages of 2-5 years old. In June, we began the home study visits. Throughout July and August we engaged in the completion of child development trainings, while also obtaining all the required legal documents and background clearances that support the successful completion of our home study. The duration of 2 visits and a written evaluation totaled $3,500 with an additional $500 of professional medical testing. As September begins, we find ourselves at the end of the home study. With great anticipation, we will soon begin the next steps that bring us another day closer to our precious girl's arrival.

Next steps include;  Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA) Registration through the Government of India, Dossier submission, and  Child Referral Acceptance-matched with our daughter!! Financial requirements to fulfill these next steps:
$8,500 for CARA Registration/Foreign Program Fees
$5,000 for CARA Child Care Fee/Child Referral Acceptance
We share these next step fees and cost information to ask for your consideration in partnering with us financially to bring our daughter home. The hope is to complete these financial commitments by the end of October.  We value any contribution that can be made. And truly, words cannot fully express the gratitude in our hearts for your support and love in joining us on this incredible journey. Thank you so very much.

You are invited to follow our campaign for adoption updates, share on social media, and to communicate your questions, prayers, and words of encouragement as we prepare to bring her home!

We love you, and thank you for being a part of our growing family!
