MEET MAX:

Max is a beloved member of our “Vancouver” art and nightlife community - a skilled illustrator, musician, organizer, and vibrant presence in Vancouver. They want to start their Permanent Residency (PR) process and seek the community's help.

Between the pandemic and many different setbacks outside their control, Max has experienced significant barriers to obtaining permanent residence primarily due to PR expenses. Being an immigrant in "Vancouver" for seven years hasn't been easy, and life without PR holds a lot of restrictions on things like housing, healthcare, financial security, and government support. These funds would expedite a long, challenging process and ensure Max some stability.

It’s personalities like Max who make Vancouver worth staying in. Let’s do our best to make sure they’re welcome and safe to stay.

WHAT:

Help fund the costs of permanent residency in Canada for Max to finance and obtain it through a GoFundMe campaign and live event + other methods.

WHY:

Max is a non-binary immigrant from Mexico City. They came to study animation and have been living and working here for almost 7 years. Max has made a life here that makes them really happy and has so many dreams of how their life could be once they are able to secure a Permanent Residency in Canada. Max has been trying to save and start this process for the past couple of years but has had a lot of financial, health, and employment setbacks that have not made it possible for them to start it. This has caused immense harm to their mental health, and it would be an enormous relief for them to have that stability and especially during this pandemic where nothing seems to be certain.

Being a queer immigrant in so-called “Canada” limits access to essential health resources and government support. During the pandemic, the additional cost of residency would leave Max with very little resources in case of an emergency. Community support in the form of contributions to this fundraiser would greatly speed the process and allow them some peace of mind during these unstable times, helping them focus on the grueling process itself.

Government - at least $1430 ( $475 Processing / $75 Sponsorship Fee / $500 Perm Residence (After you receive the PR) / $300+ Medical Exam / Police Records $80)

+ other associated costs, including printing, notarizations, etc

All extra funds will be redistributed to:
