My sister recently made the incredibly brave decision to leave an emotionally abusive marriage, in order to protect herself and her two young children. While this step has brought much needed peace and safety, it has also created a sudden and overwhelming financial burden. She is now starting over from scratch-- securing a safe home, covering rent, and managing moving expenses-- all while caring for her kids on her own.
