Starter Initiative 7: The Long Haul
Welcome Starter Initiative #7: The Long Haul, in partnership with Hotel Vermont! We'll be raising $6000 in 6 weeks for 3 essential causes, and Starter's new masonry oven. To donate, follow this two step process: 1. Donate through GoFundMe, then fill out our Google Order Form to earn your reward.
COVID-19 is not going away, and will continue to disproportionately affect the BIPOC community both locally and nationally. With the help of Hotel Vermont, we're here to let you know Starter is sticking around too.
Over the course of six weeks, we'll aim to raise $6000 total. $1000 will be given directly to each of the organizations below. The remaining $3000 will cover oven-building expenses, and compensation for our master mason, internationally acclaimed Thea Alvin .
First Leg: The Committee on Temporary Shelter (COTS).
Second Leg: New Farms for New Americans.
Third Leg: The Boys and Girls Club of VT.
For the oven, $1200 is needed for building materials, and $1000 for Thea's expertise. A $200 donation* will grant you the opportunity to work alongside Thea as we build our masonry oven from the ground up (please note, you must have health insurance to participate). The class is September 5-7, limit of 6 participants.
This is less than half the price it's usually offered. You'll be earning SERIOUS karma points/bread for your monetary and temporal gift.
Our partner, Hotel Vermont, will be offering marketing and bakery support. The pickup location for the first leg will be at Hotel Vermont, Wednesday, September 9th, where we encourage you to stick around and try their exquisite COVID-compliant dining menu.
Thanks to King Arthur Flour , and RK Miles for their absurdly generous material support during this initiative. And of course, thank YOU for being the Grain for Change.
*You must have your own health insurance to participate in the class
