Starbucks Workers Lose A Week of Wage
Donation protected
We are the Starbucks partners who work at the Penn Center East location in Monroeville. Last month, we won our NLRB election and became a certified union store with Starbucks Workers United. In the aftermath of our win, we were informed the store would be closing for repairs from 7/18 through 7/24. The flooring issues for which the store is closed this week have been long-known, and several of us have made formal maintenance requests over the years.
Because we are members of a union, Starbucks was required to bargain with us over the effects of our store's closure. After several bargaining sessions, we were unable to reach an agreement that met the needs and concerns of all our coworkers unfortunately.
While some of us have been able to pick up shifts at other stores during the week's closure, almost none of us have been able to work our expected hours. We cannot afford to miss out on that income, and we hope you will consider donating to help offset the losses from this week. All donations will be used to help Penn Center East partners pay essential expenses while unable to work at their home store. Any little bit helps. Thank you guys.
