Hello Citizens! It’s no secret that this pandemic has been very difficult, and a challenge to many. With over 29 million confirmed Coronavirus cases in the US alone, things still haven’t turned around for the better, especially with our elderly and vulnerable. Even with a vaccine, this doesn’t mean they are safe. Many seniors go hungry, and that's up to us to help change that. The Star Citizen community is fundraising to provide assistance, food, and comfort to over 10 million seniors who are at risk of hunger.

This is a combined effort between the /r/StarCitizen Discord, /r/StarCitizen Subreddit, Starcitizen.tools, and all participating community members, content creators, and streamers.

Meals on Wheels’ mission is to operate in every community in America through over 5000 independently run local programs. They are committed to supporting senior citizens, so that they can live healthier and more nourished lives in their own homes, while also filling a key social aspect in their lives that many are otherwise lacking. According to their reports, over 58% of home delivered meal recipients live alone, with the volunteers who bring their meals being the only person they will see that day.

Despite being federally supported, they still remain significantly underfunded. The price of meals and transportation has only gone up, while federal funding has stagnated for years. That leaves the daunting task of raising funds to donors: Citizens like us.

On average, a meal for a senior costs between $9-11 USD. If we reach our goal of 10,000 dollars, we will have provided around 1,000 seniors a meal. It is our hope that we can reach and/or surpass our goal to help as many seniors as possible in these difficult and lonely times.

The /r/StarCitizen Discord mod team will personally match donations once we reach $1,200, and turn it into $2,400! We are also hosting a sweepstakes for anyone who donates at least $5 USD. The sweepstakes will cap at two entries so it's fair for all participants. We will pick a winner at random. It will be distributed once we hit our target goal or by the end of March, whatever comes first.
