Stanley’s MTB Challenge for Harry!

While many of us were celebrating Christmas and seeing in the New Year Stanley’s school friend and football teammate, Harry, received a diagnosis of bone cancer.

At only 8 years old Harry is your typical fun loving, cheeky boy - the picture above illustrating this perfectly!! He’s always ready with a smile and it is safe to say he’s football mad! ⚽️

Harry needs treatment in Manchester meaning his parents are going to need to take chunks of time off work to accompany Harry to appointments and care for him when he’s at home. At a time when we’re all struggling with the energy prices, additional travel costs, when not being able to work, isn’t something they should have to worry about as they support Harry through his treatment.

Hearing his friend isn’t well Stanley asked, off his own back, what he can to to help. So after much thought we’ve settled on ‘Stanley’s MTB Challenge’ which will be intertwined with Harry’s favourite football club, Manchester Utd!

Stanley will aim to complete 3 mountain biking challenges supported by his Daddy, who will ride with him, and his Mammy and baby brother who will cheer him and and provide energy boosting refreshments.

The 3 challenges being:-

▪️Bike the distance between Harry’s house and Old Trafford along a suitable, car free, route such as the Monsal Trail. Approx 20 miles!

▪️Complete 42 laps of a pump track to represent the main trophies won by the club!

▪️’Send it’ (a MTB biking term or so I’m told) with 14 ‘downhills’! 14 being the number of Harry’s favourite Utd player, Eriksen.
