Bring Stanley Home to Kenya
Donation protected
Hi all,
Stanley, a handyman who worked regularly with a friend of mine, has become homeless and is in dire need of help. He's from Kenya, wants to fly back there as soon as possible, and needs money for a ticket.
He stopped getting work as a handyman and lost his place in Oakland a few months ago.
He's been on the street all winter, sleeping in BART station and buses in rainy San Francisco. He has diabetes and says he's been going to the doctor, but it's getting worse.
In his own words: "I hate when it rains because my feet get too wet and it is not good. I could easily get sores because of the diabetic neuropathy. My right side nerves have been affected but not serious. Yesterday was terrible, I was hungry, wet and cold. There are so many things going through my mind, I now, understand that not everything is simple or make sense. The things that once seemed possible feels impossible. I feel alone and helpless. My diabetes is causing fingers numbness, tingling burning sensation and excruciating pain on my right leg and has affected my life."
If you can, please donate to get him back to Kenya. I'll match the first $400 of any donations made here.
UPDATE: We hit our goal within days, and Stanley is beyond grateful for all the donations. Thank you all so much, this will get Stanley to Kenya with money to spare.
I'm bumping up the goal to $1,500 because SF Weekly has written a piece on Stanley's situation, and I'm hoping some of its readers will choose to donate.
