On May 2, 2026, 267 dedicated ramp agents at Spirit Airlines’ Fort Lauderdale hub suddenly lost not only our jobs, but also our health benefits, stability, and sense of security overnight.

We were the people behind the scenes, the ones most passengers never saw. We worked in the blazing Florida heat, heavy rain, lightning delays, and exhausting overnight shifts to keep flights moving safely and on time. We loaded bags, marshaled aircraft, operated heavy equipment, handled cargo, and worked under constant pressure to make sure families made it home, vacations happened, and flights departed safely every single day.

Ramp agents are some of the hardest-working employees in aviation, yet we are often forgotten. When people think of airlines, they think of pilots and flight attendants. Rarely does anyone think about the workers on the ramp who physically keep the operation running. We accepted that reality because we took pride in what we did. Many of us truly loved the work.

Among the 267 of us are mothers, fathers, veterans, caregivers, and employees facing serious health concerns. Some of us dedicated years of our lives to this company. Some are now facing uncertainty about rent, groceries, prescriptions, childcare, and how to move forward after losing both our income and benefits with almost no warning.

This fundraiser was created to help ease that burden.

Our goal is to raise enough so that each affected ramp agent can receive at least $500 to help with immediate necessities while we search for new opportunities and rebuild our lives. It may not solve everything, but it could mean keeping the lights on, buying groceries, paying for medication, or helping a family stay afloat during one of the hardest moments they’ve faced.
