He is a sweet dog and i feel so bad for him ......Although being tested negative for heartworm at the shelter, He has been tested positive with two tests just recently. It is believed by my Vet that he is likely to have been tested a false negative by the shelter, No fault to them as it can take up to 6 months to foster. I had him on a preventative so that is why my Vet feels the initial test was false negative.

<div>This is Milo. We adopted him because we wanted to give him the loving home he deserved, but the truth is, he’s the one who rescued me. He’s my best friend, my shadow, and one of the biggest sources of happiness in my life. Anyone who knows Milo knows how loving, funny and gentle he is. He has the sweetest soul, and seeing him poorly has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever been through. Over the last few weeks, Milo has become increasingly unwell. He’s been vomiting, struggling with symptoms that just wouldn’t go away, and we’ve spent so much time at the vets trying to find out what was wrong. We’ve already paid for emergency appointments, blood tests, scans, medication and investigations. I don’t regret spending a penny because he’s family, but it’s left us in a position where we’re struggling to afford what he now desperately needs. Milo has been diagnosed with BOAS (Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome), and he’s been referred for surgery. Without it, he’ll continue to struggle, continue to be sick, and won’t get the chance to live the normal, happy life that every dog deserves. Knowing there’s a surgery that could change his life, but worrying about how to pay for it, is absolutely breaking my heart.

Emergency Relief for Venezuela Earthquake Victims

<div>Matthew, known as “Rex” to many of his friends and subscribers, is my husband of 24 years and the father of our three young boys, ages 7, 2, and just 2 months old.

<div>10+ years ago, Matthew fought cancer and survived an extremely difficult treatment and recovery. Unfortunately, we have now received the news we hoped we would never hear again.
</div>

</div>
<div>Recent CT, PET, ultrasound imaging, and blood work have revealed a large 8.3 cm retroperitoneal mass involving the lymph nodes near his spine and major blood vessels, along with additional concerning findings. His tumor markers and the newest imaging now point very strongly to a recurrence of the same cancer he fought 10+ years ago. His doctors believe the evidence is sure enough that they do not want to lose additional time waiting for another biopsy before moving his case forward.

<div>Matthew's oncologist in North Dakota immediately referred him to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota for specialized evaluation and treatment. Mayo contacted us on August 10 and was able to arrange appointments on extremely short notice.

<div>We are now headed to Rochester.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We will be meeting with a surgeon to determine what options may be possible, as well as Mayo's medical oncology team to evaluate this case and begin developing a treatment plan.
</div>

<div>We are extremely thankful that this door opened so quickly, and our family is very hopeful about having his case evaluated by the specialists at Mayo. At the same time, we know that we are facing a serious and uncertain road ahead.
</div>

<div>Matthew has already been dealing with significant pain, and keeping up with his normal workload is becoming increasingly difficult. He is our family's only income provider, while I stay home to care for and homeschool our children. We live on a small farm and are also in the middle of our first home addition to make enough room for our growing family.

<div>Our greatest financial concern is making sure that our boys remain secure in their home and that our family can stay financially stable if Matthew becomes unable to work during treatment and recovery.

They will also help cover travel to Mayo Clinic, medical and treatment-related expenses, and the everyday costs of keeping our family going while Matthew focuses his remaining energy on getting through treatment and spending time with his boys.

<div>last week we drove from Sunrise to Cape Coral twice to save a total of 12 labradors and 2 mixed breed dogs. The costs added up quickly. We found a rescue to take some of the dogs, but we kept the medical cases.

<div>most urgently, we need to cover more than basic vetting. We have a female lab who came to us blind, we have made an appointment for her to see a specialist. We have a ten year old yellow lab boy whose hips are so worn down he cannot sustain his own weight when he pees. He also has a severe double ear infection and double eye infection. He has sores all over his body and we are doing everything we can for this boy to have a healthy life for as many years or months as he has left.

<div>lastly, we have a yellow male Labrador with worrisome frequent urination issues and possible entropion. He will need to see a specialist urgently.

<div>on our way back from the second trip, we found a large shepherd mix dog on the road and brought him along to the rescue. We were not imagining this would happen but we couldn’t leave him. We were his only chance at safety. He has lacerations on his face and back but is a very sweet guy— thankfully!

<div>besides all of these medical issues, we also need to get blood work and spay/neuters done as soon as possible so these dogs don’t have to spend much longer at our shelter and can go on to enjoy lives in foster homes until they’re healthy.

<div>While I'm waiting for my unemployment benefits to come through, (and I have no idea how long it will take them to get back to me, let alone give me those benefits,) I'm doing everything I can to get back on my feet. In the less than a week since I was fired, I've applied for said unemployment, medicare, and food stamps; I worked out a payment arrangement with my treatment resistant depression clinic, and I've lined up three job interviews for next week. I am hustling as hard as I can to find new work. (Could a lazy person do this, I ask you? like a Parks and Rec bit.)

<div>In the meantime, I'm facing some urgent expenses that I can't cover alone. Since Covid, she had to use the iron lung full time, and the costs of supplies and medicine gradually depleted her savings. Now, her family faces unexpected probate and funeral expenses, and your support will help them honor Martha Ann’s legacy and provide her with the dignity she deserves.

My brother has always been a dedicated truck driver, delivering merchandise to different store fronts and working hard to support his family. Recently, he faced an unexpected crisis when his work truck short circuited, causing a fire that destroyed both the truck and all the inventory inside. While insurance is covering the cost of the truck, the inventory loss is not included, leaving him in a very difficult position. The company he works for has a policy that makes him personally responsible for the lost inventory, and now he must either pay for it or resign from his job.

 Despite the overwhelming circumstances, my brother has already scraped together his savings and even given up a month's salary to start repaying the debt. However, the amount needed is still more than he can manage alone. <div>For the past few years we've been busy building Kaleidoscope Desert, a sanctuary for both humans and animals in Joshua Tree, California.

<div>When the pandemic hit in 2020, the winds that blew people out of their ordinary lives and into the unknown sent us from Brooklyn, NY – where you probably knew us as political activists, startup founders, journalists, humanitarian aid workers, and artists – to the tiny California desert town of Morongo Valley, a sublime valley not far from Joshua Tree National Park.

<div>First we started rescuing dogs, as we had done extensive dog rescue in New York City – and along the way we found other animals in need of a safe place to live and be loved. We started saying yes to them all, and now have over 100 rescued and rehomed animals on our 5-acre ranch. None of this was planned!

<div>Then we invited friends to create spectacular works on the property, and invited people to come experience the ranch for themselves. To date we’ve hosted political leaders, academics, artists, inventors, and the rest of us :)

<div>Our furry and feathered friends – including a zebra (!!), curious emus, persistent goats, meandering piggies, free-range mini horses, voracious mini-cows, ridiculous chickens, mouthy ducks and many more – welcome our visitors with open wings to their home amidst the breathtaking desert landscapes.

<div><strong>Who is Charles?</strong>
</div>
<div>The Charles we know and love is kind and generous. He’s there for you when you need him and never asks for anything in return. He cares very deeply and intensely and that shows in his thoughts, actions, and words. Charles lives in Washington, D.C. with his girlfriend of 4 years. Together they share a home with their two cats and one grapefruit tree where they are surrounded by memories of their life together. That home will grow quieter after he is sentenced to prison.

<div><strong>What did he do?</strong>
</div>
<div>While working as a contractor for the IRS, Charles stole the tax returns of Donald Trump, and thousands of other wealthy individuals and leaked them to the press. The New York Times would subsequently run a story on September 27, 2020, which revealed Donald Trump’s years of tax avoidance. On June 8, 2021, ProPublica published the Secret IRS Files detailing the strategies the ultra-wealthy use to minimize their tax bills — sometimes down to zero. Charles shared this material with the press out of a sincere belief that he was acting in the public interest. At the same time, he knows that the unauthorized disclosure of taxpayer information is wrong, and he is remorseful for the harm he has caused.

<div>On October 12, 2023, Charles pleaded guilty to one count of unauthorized disclosure of tax information. On January 29, 2024, the Court sentenced Charles to the statutory maximum term of five years in a federal prison followed by a term of supervised release and 300 hours community service.
</div>

</div>
<div><strong>What will happen to the money we raise? </strong>Any donated funds will be transferred to a dedicated bank account set up for this purpose. Charles will use funds from that account to pay for present and future legal fees, and if there are sufficient funds, to reimburse him for the fees he has already paid out of pocket or contribute to his commissary account while in prison. He has already spent tens of thousands of dollars on his defense in this case.

<div>Should there be any funds remaining after all legal obligations have been met, our plan is to return the surplus funds back to the donors.

<div>These two sweet brothers were found abandoned at a local park, their collars still on. Witnesses say they waited patiently like good boys, watching every passing car and person, hoping their owner would come back for them. But no one ever did.

<div>A kind Good Samaritan found them and brought them to the shelter, thinking it would be a safe place. Tragically, Rusty and Terry had only been there a short time when they were given a euthanasia deadline of March 13th.

<div>Two innocent dogs, abandoned and confused, scheduled to lose their lives simply because the shelter is full.

<div>But their story changed when an incredible person stepped up and said yes to fostering both brothers together. Because of this one act of kindness, Rusty and Terry now have a chance to live.

<div>Civil rights WARRIOR Priscilla Stephens Kruize is in failing health and needs to move into an Assisted Living Facility (ALF), which she cannot afford, and our family also cannot afford to foot her costs. Due to spinal stenosis at age 87, she is suddenly unable to properly care for herself or live on her own. During the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s, Kruize and her sister, Patricia Stephens Due, led the first Jail-In of the nation as part of the Student Sit-In Movement, refusing to pay their fines and spending 49 days in jail with other students from Florida A&amp;M University in Tallahassee. Their efforts as student leaders of their chapter of CORE (the Congress of Racial Equality) helped topple segregation in Florida. In 1961, she was kicked in the stomach by a police officer while she showed support for the Freedom Riders. 
</div>

<div> Like most activists, she did not gain wealth and instead dedicated her life to teaching and her Black Heritage Museum (which is now amassing large fees in storage). She has worked tirelessly to inspire young people and help keep Black History alive. But as a result, she has been living on only Social Security and a small pension from teaching. Her family is navigating the bureaucracy to get her the financial assistance she needs, but the process takes weeks, or months – so this is a short-term fundraiser to make sure she can live safely until her ongoing financial aid is in place. These funds would help cover her monthly housing and care as well as storage fees so her belongings are not lost. Family members have also been assisting her, but the costs are very high and will continue to accrue.

<div> Priscilla Stephens Kruize is a living civil rights legend. When she and her sister were in jail in the 1960s, they received a telegram of support from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as well as diaries from baseball great Jackie Robinson. The two sisters later toured the nation to spread the word about the horrors of Jim Crow and racial discrimination. (Their civil rights story is detailed in the book FREEDOM IN THE FAMILY: A MOTHER-DAUGHTER MEMOIR OF THE FIGHT FOR CIVIL RIGHTS and fictionalized in the short story “The Rider” by Tananarive Due in the Jordan Peele anthology OUT THERE SCREAMING.) <div>We were the people behind the scenes, the ones most passengers never saw. We worked in the blazing Florida heat, heavy rain, lightning delays, and exhausting overnight shifts to keep flights moving safely and on time. We loaded bags, marshaled aircraft, operated heavy equipment, handled cargo, and worked under constant pressure to make sure families made it home, vacations happened, and flights departed safely every single day.

<div>Ramp agents are some of the hardest-working employees in aviation, yet we are often forgotten. When people think of airlines, they think of pilots and flight attendants. Rarely does anyone think about the workers on the ramp who physically keep the operation running. We accepted that reality because we took pride in what we did. Many of us truly loved the work.

<div>Among the 267 of us are mothers, fathers, veterans, caregivers, and employees facing serious health concerns. Some of us dedicated years of our lives to this company. Some are now facing uncertainty about rent, groceries, prescriptions, childcare, and how to move forward after losing both our income and benefits with almost no warning.

<div>Grover was scheduled to lose his life on November 3rd — simply because no one came for him in time. At the very last moment, we stepped in and rescued him before his deadline. <strong>His life mattered then, and it still does now.</strong>

<div>Since his rescue, we’ve been fostering Grover in our spare bedroom. While he’s safe, this is only temporary. Grover deserves a real home where he can enjoy space, stability, and a family of his own. Right now, he can’t be adopted until he gets the help he needs.

<div>Grover’s past hasn’t been kind. It’s clear that at some point a male figure was likely very harsh with him. Because of that, he struggles with anxiety and “stranger danger,” especially in larger settings. He isn’t a bad dog — he’s a scared one. He just needs someone to show him the world is kind and that he’s finally safe.

But we’re getting priced out of the city, and some of the things advancing through various state legislatures have made me realize it’s time to get out before it’s too late. We have until June to raise the money to move to Maryland.

<div>On Wednesday, April 1st, 2026, the world lost one of its brightest lights, <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXQ262-C6qk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Honorable Nancy Metayer</a>, in an act of senseless violence. Nancy was a beloved daughter, sister, friend, and dedicated public servant. Throughout her years in public office, she led with integrity, compassion, and an unwavering sense of purpose.

<div>In honor of her commitment to resilience, equality, and justice, family and friends of Nancy Metayer have established the Nancy Metayer Endowment, a permanent fund in her memory and in recognition of her legacy.

<div>As a trailblazing public servant, Nancy made history as the first Black and Haitian American female Commissioner elected in Coral Springs, Florida. First elected in 2020 and re-elected in 2024, she was appointed in December of 2024 as Vice Mayor, a role she carried with grace, vision, and a deep commitment to the community.
</div>

<div>Nancy's life was defined by her passion for service, environmental stewardship, inclusion, and advocacy for others. Her professional and personal mission was rooted in making sure people felt seen, heard, and valued. Her leadership extended across numerous local and national boards, reflecting a lifelong commitment to sustainability, equity, and civic life.

<div><strong>This little Frenchie was brought into the shelter as a stray in critical need of immediate emergency medical care.</strong> He has suffered seizures, may have IVDD, is underweight, and needs urgent veterinary intervention to survive.

<div>Our rescue immediately stepped up, with 30 minutes left before his deadline. There was medical pledge support toward his medical care and even two foster offers ready to help him. But despite our efforts, the person who originally started advocating for him has now hidden and deleted the post because of her personal feelings towards our rescue, leaving his future hanging in the balance.

Save This Frenchie’s Life with Urgent Medical Care

<div><strong>Harrison has been stuck in the shelter since December, in constant pain.</strong> His hip is dislocated, and right now, he has bone rubbing directly on bone every single day. He lies on a hard kennel floor with no bedding, trying to cope with pain no dog should endure.

<div>Harrison needs FHO surgery (Femoral Head Ostectomy) — a procedure where the damaged part of the hip joint is removed so the body can form a pain-free “false joint.” Without this surgery, he will continue to suffer. With it, he has the chance to live a happy, comfortable life.

Gump, a sweet 6‑year‑old white Miniature Schnauzer, arrived in truly rough shape and urgently needed help. He has significant food sensitivities — no fowl and no grains of any kind (corn, rice, or meals) — so we transitioned him to a high‑quality fish formula and beef diet. The change has been incredible. His allergy supplements are finally doing their job, and he’s getting the relief he’s needed for far too long.

 When he came in, Gump desperately needed a haircut, an itch‑relief bath, and hotspot spray. After some much‑needed grooming and care, he’s finally on the mend. You can *see* the difference in him, and we know he feels so much better — his whole little body shows it.

 One thing we didn’t anticipate is that Gump also needs a dental. With vet care costs continuing to rise, we’ve set up a GoFundMe to help cover this important procedure and keep him moving forward on his healing journey. Even the cost of a cup of coffee, multiplied by our amazing Schnauzer community, can make a real difference.

<div>Hi, my name is Debbie Davies and I am fundraising on behalf of my dear friend, Rosie Turner, who is the founder of Desperate Dogs Of Azerbaijan (DDA)

<div>Rosie is a Canadian citizen who arrived in Azerbaijan five years ago for work. 
</div>
<div>As an animal lover, Rosie was immediately shocked by the treatment of stray dogs and cats. They are regularly culled from the streets by methods which are far from humane and Rosie could not just ignore their plight.
</div>
<div>Rosie started by rescuing a few dogs &amp; cats and placing them in foster care but soon realised that this was not sustainable with the number of animals needing help.
</div>
<div>We managed to rent some land and now have 185 dogs and 29 cats at our main DDA shelter on the outskirts of Baku which is funded solely by donations.
</div>
<div>Rosie was recently alerted to the plight of a dog in  city several miles from Baku where there had been a mass cull of stray dogs. The poor soul was clearly in a very bad way but fortunately Rosie managed to find him and rushed him
</div>
<div>straight to the vet.
</div>
<div>X-Rays showed that this poor soul had six bullets in his body as well as suffering from Leishmaniosis which is a very severe skin disease. 
</div>
<div>Sadly, it is too risky to try and remove the bullets but this brave boy is currently receiving treatment in intensive care and has a very strong will to live.  He is already eating and trying to move around and we have named him Melchior.
</div>
<div>We remain positive about Melchior’s recovery but  it will be long and slow and he will not be strong enough to go to our shelter for quite some time.
</div>
<div>It costs £16 per day for intensive care plus medication and we desperately need more funds to know that we can continue to care for him.
</div>
<div>it is a miracle that this dear boy is alive and he really deserves a chance, we cannot fail him.
</div>
