My wife, Renee, is a Registered Nurse who dedicated her life to caring for others long before COVID-19 contracting it while working nursing and throughout the height of the pandemic as a bedside registered nurse.
Like so many healthcare workers, she showed up every day despite fear, exhaustion, and unsafe conditions, because caring for patients was not just her job, it was her calling.
While serving on the frontlines, Renee contracted COVID-19 four (4) times. What was initially expected to be a temporary illness became something far more serious. The virus caused severe and lasting medical complications that ultimately took away her ability to continue her career in nursing for over 10 years the profession she loved and worked so hard to achieve.
Renee went from being the most caring Nurse to becoming a very ill patient which she never saw coming.
Since becoming seriously ill, Renee has faced ongoing and worsening medical challenges that require continuous care from multiple medical specialists, advanced treatments, and major upcoming surgery. She is currently living with Severe Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) a progressive and life-threatening condition that impacts every part of her daily life.
In addition to managing her heart failure, Renee requires ongoing cardiac treatment, essential medications, and is preparing for significant open surgical procedures. These conditions have caused chronic pain, extreme fatigue, anxiety and panic attacks, and severe physical limitations, making everyday tasks difficult and preventing her from returning to work, but we always remain hopeful with God. Despite her strength and determination, her body has not recovered in the way doctors initially hoped, and her medical journey remains ongoing and uncertain filled always with daily prayers.
The impact has been absolutely devastating for Renee (My loving wife) emotionally, physically, mentally, and financially.
Losing her nursing career meant losing her Dream Profession a main primary source of income at the same time medical expenses continued to rise. We are now facing significant out-of-pocket medical costs, surgical expenses, medications, therapies, and recovery-related needs that are not fully covered by medical insurance. The financial strain has added stress to an already overwhelming medical journey.
We are asking for help so Renee can focus on healing instead of worrying about how we will manage the cost of care and to live her life the best and most comfortable way with the limitations she carries.
Funds raised will be used for:
• Surgery and hospital-related expenses
• Specialist appointments and follow-up care
• Medications, treatments, and therapies
• Travel and logistics for medical care
• Basic living support during recovery
Renee never hesitated to care for others, even when it put her own health at risk. She answered the call during one of the darkest chapters in modern healthcare, and she paid a heavy price for doing so.
Any support whether through a donation or simply sharing this page means more than we can express. Your kindness helps give Renee the chance to regain stability, dignity, and hope as she works toward healing and rebuilding her life.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with us during this difficult chapter.
How Your Support Will Be Used:
We want to be completely transparent about how funds raised will be used to help keep Renee alive and give her the best chance at recovery.
Major Surgeries and Hospital Care
Renee is facing multiple major surgeries that require extended hospital stays, specialized surgeons, anesthesia, and, at times, ICU-level monitoring. This also includes extensive pre-operative and post-operative imaging, testing, and follow-up care. Even with insurance, the out-of-pocket costs and coverage gaps are significant.
Estimated cost: $60,000–$95,000
Advanced Heart Failure Treatment
Renee requires ongoing care from cardiology specialists for advanced heart failure, including frequent diagnostic testing for her pacemaker such as echocardiograms, labs, continuous monitoring, and potential emergency interventions to stabilize her condition.
Estimated cost: $25,000–$50,000
Life-Sustaining Medications
Renee depends on multiple long-term medications to manage her heart failure and related conditions. These medications are essential, ongoing, and often costly, with frequent insurance delays, denials, and prior authorization challenges.
Estimated cost: $10,000–$20,000 per year
Recovery, Home Care, and Daily Support
During treatment and recovery, Renee is unable to work, and her care requires transportation to appointments, in-home assistance, medical equipment, and basic living support while income is severely reduced or nonexistent.
Estimated cost: $20,000–$30,000
Unexpected and Emergency Medical Needs
With a condition this serious, there are unavoidable unknowns / complications, extended hospitalizations, or emergency admissions that can happen without warning. We are setting aside a buffer to ensure Renee can receive immediate care if her condition worsens.
Estimated reserve: $20,000+
We are deeply grateful for any support and are committed to sharing updates so donors can see exactly how their generosity is helping Renee fight for her life.
With God and Great Gratitude,
Michael & Renee
