My uncle is a kind, courageous man who has always gone hard for his community. This is his story. He has experienced police brutality firsthand, having lost his best friend to it in his own front yard in 2018; an experience that deeply shaped him and strengthened his commitment to speaking out and protecting others. He has always been a vocal advocate for his community. After he blew his whistle to alert those nearby of the presence of ICE, he was boxed in, dragged from his car and brutally attacked. Since Thursday night, January 22nd, he has been held in a hospital room with serious injuries, cut off from his family, without access to a lawyer and without any updates being given to us about his condition. He did not commit any violent act; his only action was trying to warn and protect others yet he is now facing potential federal charges. This has been devastating for our family.
All funds raised will go directly toward Paul’s medical bills and the legal fees needed to defend his rights and help bring him home. We will also be hosting a shirt fundraiser for those who would like to show their support; because standing together, uplifting the community, and turning pain into solidarity is exactly what Paul would want.
