Hi. My name is Lorelei Brody. I am a friend of the family of Liam Bossert. He also is a rockstar on our Special Olympics Michigan Area 36 basketball team where I am honored to be his coach.
Liam has KCNT1 epilepsy, which is a severe, rare genetic disorder caused by mutations in the KCNT1 gene, leading to overactive potassium channels in the brain, resulting in frequent, drug-resistant seizures and significant developmental delays (encephalopathy).
Liam has been in and out of hospitals. He has been flown downstate 4 times in the last several months for uncontrolled seizures, having 100 or more a day.
We are reaching out with heavy, hopeful, and praying hearts as Liam is downstate again. His platelets are very dangerously low, he is in and out of consciousness, he has pneumonia, and is very ill. He is now looking at a bone marrow biopsy and lumbar puncture as they need to figure out why or what is eating up his platelets. Their hospital stay is going to be long and tiring.
We are humbly asking for any assistance you can offer their family during this difficult time. Your support, whether through prayer, donations, sharing this fundraiser, or offering words of encouragement, will make a meaningful difference in their lives as they navigate through this crisis. Every contribution, no matter how small, will go a long way in helping Liam and his family cover travel and expenses and alleviate some of the financial burdens they are facing.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read their story and for considering supporting the Bosserts during this challenging time. Your kindness and generosity are deeply appreciated, and we are grateful for any help you can provide.
Donations will be sent to Stacey Bossert, the Grandma of Liam, Spending every second by his side along with his parents.
Thank you so much.
Praying,
Lorelei Brody
