I’m writing this with hope in my heart that we can come together to help my older sister,Kelly Lorton,ease the heavy burden she is carrying as she battles stage 4 Metastatic Melanoma.

Kelly has been a dedicated teacher for 34 years serving communities from Port Angeles to Olympia,Queets,Quinault,Taholah and Hoquiam. Teaching has always been more than a job to her— it’s who she is. This past year however has been incredibly difficult.between treatment and constant medical care, she has had to take time off work for countless doctors appointments, sometimes three to four appointments a week, traveling here and there just to keep fighting.

Kelly is a proud and loving Mom to her two kids,Michael and Riley who have both stood by her side through this whole ordeal.Our parents have also been there every step of the way driving her to appointments ,checking in on her,and making sure she never feels alone. While you could say she’s blessed with an amazing family,the truth is we are the ones who are blessed to have her.

Even on the middle of her own fight,

Kelly continues to put everyone else first.She’s still managed to plan our Lorton family fishing trip, our annual family camping trip. Mom’s birthday dinner,and she never fails to check in on me to see how I’m feeling or how I’m managing my own health. She does all of this with a smile and if you’ve ever seen Kelly’s smile,you know how contagious it is.

This fundraiser is meant to help relieve some of the financial stress that comes with on going medical care, time away from work,travel and every day expenses that don’t stop just because life gets hard.more than anything it allows Kelly to focus on what matters most right now ,her health her family and to continue to fight.

Kelly has always been the steady one,the helper,the planner,the listener ,the smile in the room when things feel heavy. Now,as she faces one of the hardest battles of her life ,she is doing so with the same strength,grace, and kindness she has always shown others.
