Hello friends, family, and compassionate supporters,
On January 17th at 8PM, my dad, John Kamer, was admitted to the hospital after experiencing psychosis, catatonia, and seizures. He has since been diagnosed with a seizure disorder, and doctors are continuing to evaluate a possible diagnosis of autoimmune encephalitis.
We are grateful to share that John is now lucid, thanks to anti-seizure medications that have helped stabilize his condition. While this is an encouraging step forward, his recovery will require ongoing care.
Medical expenses are quickly adding up, including his hospital stay, medications, specialist consultations, diagnostic testing, and rehabilitation. John now faces at least 10 days of inpatient physical therapy, followed by continued neurological care. Due to his seizure diagnosis, he is unable to drive for a minimum of six months, creating significant challenges for daily life and medical appointments.
As of January 26, 2026, John’s care has become a long-term journey involving continued treatment, medications, rehabilitation, and possible future therapies.
Every donation (no matter the amount) helps ease the financial burden and allows our family to focus on John’s care and recovery. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser or sending encouragement means more than we can express.
Funds raised will go directly toward unpaid medical bills and ongoing care, including hospitalization, medications, rehabilitation, and neurological follow-up.
Thank you for standing with our family during this incredibly difficult time. We are deeply grateful for your love and support and will continue to share updates on John’s progress.
With gratitude,
The Kamer Family
