My name is Russ Pritchard, and I am the CEO of The Afghan American Development Group, which was formed in 2022 to assist former personnel of the Afghan Air Force and Special Mission Wing who arrived in the United States as part of Operation Allies Welcome. These heroic allies prevented the Taliban from capturing equipment that could have been used against the American withdrawal from Afghanistan in August 2021. To accomplish this feat meant leaving their wives and children behind enemy lines. As a result, these men living in the United States have been separated from their wives and children for more than five years. The wives and children stuck in Afghanistan live in constant fear of retributive targeting by the Taliban as punishment for their loyalty to U.S. military and the NATO Coalition. Under Taliban rule, women cannot go out in public, and girls cannot go to school after the sixth grade. Recently, the U.N. estimated 96% of families in Afghanistan face food shortages, and the only means of support for these women and children come from the husband/father living in the United States. The psychological toll on fathers separated from their families; wives separated from their husbands; children separated from their fathers for over five years has been devastating. It is time that can never be recovered. On July 29, 2026, the federal court in the Eastern District of Virginia ruled these separations were unlawful (A.A. v. State), and families should be processed for immediate travel to America. On October 2, 2026, the Fourth Circuit of Appeals upheld the lower Court ruling. At present, we have 110 families from all over the country, and the list is still growing. I am raising money to assist these loyal Allies living in the United States with legal costs necessary to accomplish family reunification.
