With heavy hearts, we share the story of Amardeep Singh Gill — a loving husband, devoted father, and a courageous fighter who showed extraordinary strength until his final moments.

In July 2024, Amardeep was admitted to Royal Perth Hospital for what was meant to be a routine check-up. After further screenings, his world changed forever.

On 23rd July, he returned for another review, and by 25th July, he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. Doctors also discovered that his kidneys were 80% damaged, and he was immediately placed on dialysis.

After 36 days, Amardeep was admitted to the ICU, where he endured unimaginable challenges. Between July and December 2024, he bravely underwent six intense rounds of chemotherapy. During this journey, he was also diagnosed with a rare and aggressive condition — Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) — along with complications from rhinovirus, and ultimately fungal pneumonia, which sadly became the main cause of his passing.

Amardeep became the first patient in Western Australia to be placed on a trial medication, Emapalumab, for HLH — a testament to both the rarity of his illness and his incredible fight for life.

Despite knowing his time was limited, Amardeep’s heart remained with his family. In his final hours, his only request to the doctors was:

“I want to spend two hours with my family.”

He left behind handwritten notes and paintings for each of his loved ones — a final act of love that reflects the kind of man he was.

Amardeep leaves behind his young wife and his beautiful 4-year-old son, whose lives have been forever changed.
